FAQs
- How long are the sessions?
-
Each session lasts 50 minutes. This timing allows the therapist the final 10 minutes of the hour to write clinical notes about your session while still fresh in mind.
- Do you offer online sessions?
-
Yes, The Connectry is a hybrid practice and clients can be seen both online via a secure video platform as well as in person in the London offices. Under-18s and groups are currently only seen in person.
- Do I need a referral?
-
No, you can self-refer via the contact form on the website or you can be referred by a GP or other practitioner.
- What kind of therapy do you offer?
-
We provide a customised service tailored to the needs and preferences of the client, taking into account the timeframe available. We draw from multiple mainstream, evidence-based models which often include, but are not limited to: Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Attachment, Creative and Acceptance Commitment therapies.
- What happens on the introductory call?
-
The 15-minute phone consultation is free and is bookable via the website. The call provides an opportunity for you to discuss your needs and ask any questions you may have about the practice. If it doesn’t feel like a fit, there is no obligation to proceed. If we’re unable to address your specific issue, we will be happy to give you a referral for another suitable therapist.
- Are the therapy sessions confidential?
-
UK law protects the confidentiality of all communications between client and therapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. The only exception is if your therapist thinks you or someone else is in danger of being harmed. Also, as a requirement of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, all therapists must discuss client cases monthly with their supervisor, but this is done without identifying information to protect client privacy.
- How long will I need therapy?
-
While we can give recommendations based on presentation, goals and expectations, the decision on therapy duration is ultimately up to the client. The bespoke nature of the client-therapist relationship means that your experience with The Connectry will necessarily be variable, but we will always be transparent about your progress. As guidance, we often find that change can occur between 12-20 sessions, but it can take longer in cases of complex trauma or when clients opt for more exploratory, open-ended therapy. Some clients who seek more direct and goal-oriented approaches feel ready to finish therapy after 10 or fewer sessions.
- How much do the sessions cost?
-
In-person adult and adolescent sessions cost £100 per 50-minute session and remote sessions are £90. Group sessions are charged at £70 per person for a 75-minute session, and therapy costs for organizations are variable depending on the scope of care.
- What types of clients do you see?
-
We see adults and adolescents 13+ and are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where all individuals feel supported and understood, regardless of race, faith, ethnicity, neurotype or gender.
- Do you provide therapy for low-cost clients and for students?
-
Yes, there is a designated number of spaces reserved for low-cost clients with a reduced rate.
- Do you accept insurance?
-
We do not provide service via insurance directly because medical insurers can often impose unrealistic restrictions on psychological treatments. In cases where a client wants to fund via insurance, we request that you pay us first and then get reimbursed by your insurer. This prevents your therapy from being compromised or interrupted by an external or third party provider.
- Can I use your service if I live overseas?
-
Yes, we are able to see some clients who do not reside in the UK. This can be discussed during the introductory call.
